JJ - Jonette Jewelry
JJ stands for Jonette Jewelry, which Rhode Island based Abraham Lisker started in 1935 when it was initially called the Providence Jewelry Company. The company was renamed Lisker and Lisker two years later when Abraham's brother Nathan joined. The most popular ranges grew to be the novelty figurals.
The factory was forced to close during World War II but stated up again when the war ended at which time it became Jonette Jewelry Co., which combined the brothers' parents names - John and Etta. It wasn't until 1970 that the JJ copyright symbol appeared on the company's jewellery. Jonette Jewelry Co. closed in 2006 and its novelty pins continue to be sought after by loyal collectors.
